Update from MOSCOW trip….hahaha..finally because the internet server was down last few days…and Sunday is a not a working day..so only today the internet is up….kay..my update from Moscow trip.

28th of January 2008 ~ we went to our university to take our visa for the Moscow trip. Besides we had to pass up our petition before we were allowed to claim the visa.

29th of January 2008 ~ we took our visa and depart from our hostel at 9.30 pm by taxi to the train station and got into the train at 10 pm.

Wearing my new puma sports shoes ...cause it's bigger...but quite stiff....coz too new..hahaha...

The train...too dark..cant take a good picture of it...

The conductor is checking our ticket.

Josephine's and my sit in the train....i slept on the upper bed...

Besides the 2 sits at the side, there's also 4 sits in one cabin..
You can put your bag under the sit there...

My train ticket...

We were going to put down the table and transform it into a bed....

Ta da!! the bed was transformed..ahhaha...Josephine sleeping here...

We were given a tilam and a pillow...without the pillow case and bedsheet..

Outside view of our train

Train started to move....the lights were switched on and the conductor came to check our ticket again...and gave us the bed sheet and the pillow case....
30th of January 2008 ~

we arrived Moscow train station at around 6.00 am with the duration around 8 hours. Went to buy MOSCOW – Kursk train ticket first. Decided to go back to kursk on the night of 1st of February 2008.

Moscow train station, they were all queuing up to buy the train ticket.

7.00 am ~ Got our Moscow-kursk train tickets and proceed to the Metro station which is just besides the train station. It was a cold cold morning.

The metro station....
Johnny went to buy the Metro card. There are a few package of Metro card. There’s prices for unlimited metro ride, for 60 times of metro ride and etc. We bought the 60 times of Metro ride shared among 5 of us. Each one of us paid 115 roubles. Johnny bought a metro map. Wondering how we shared our Metro card? Hahaha….well, Johnny will ‘beep’ the card on the machine every one time for each of us. Then he will be the last to pass by the machine checker.

It was so early and there is so many people in the metro station already...whoaaa..

This is the metro map....complicated? with so many lines...actually it's quite easy to use the metro..just follow the sign board in every metro and you will get to your destination...

Interior part of the station....there are different design and decoration in every metro station...this is one of it, where we took our train from the train station to our hostel...

The escalator....what a long and high escalator...i counted, you need 1 minute and 30 seconds to get to the other side by this escalator. some Metro station has 4 rows of this escalator, 2 up and 2 down, and during the hectic moment, these escalators are full, packed with people....imagined how many people there?...hehe...

Took this picture after we arrived to the metro station nearest to our student hostel. From here, we have to walk around 10 to 15 minutes to the hostel. We paid 1160 roubles for 2 nights.

Took a picture of the monument along our way to the hostel...see the sky...it was already 7.30 am and it still looks like 6.30 am ...haha..

We took some pictures on our way to our pre-booked hostel. Finally reached our hostel, but the receptionist told us that we can only check in at 2pm. So, we left our luggage in the common room in the hostel and started our trip on the 1st day in Moscow.

The very first place we visited on the first day was Kremlin.
Walk to the metro station and get to the metro station at the Kremlin.

The view of the Kremlin...

Because it was too early, so we decided to walk around at the nearest place to the Kremlin...

The black circle is the underground shopping place...besides it there's a lot of statue symbolized different fairy tales...

The statue was actually surrounded by water...but its winter now...so no water, water all frozed into ice..hahaha...should come during the summer and it will be nicer..I just took a few of the statue...there are still many more...actually Johnny took every statue of it...but...

The building in the red square is just besides the underground shopping complex, planned to go there after the Kremlin... but first of all, we got to take our breakfast first, in Mcdonald...haha..

The burger i ordered was burger with eggs and bacon cost me 48 roubles! haha..

THere's a kilocalories review on the burger's wrapper...check ur burger to see if your burger is a high calories or low calories burger...and the content of fats, protein and carbohydrates for your burger. the red color is the eggs with pork, ordered by Johnny, while the blue one was mine, see whose healthier? hahahha...

Okay, we had enough for our breakfast, now is time to go to Kremlin!

The booth where we bought our ticket...
Bought our ticket. For students it was only 120 rb altogether. For adults and others, it will be very very expensive. If I m not wrong, it’s around 400 roubles. To prove that we are students, we got to show our students cards but too bad I didn’t bring my student cards. So others 4 who brought it paid first and me, I took Josephine’s student card and went to pay for it. Thank God, the cashier wasn’t too strict, so I got the cheaper price. Ahahhaa….

2 tickets...one ticket for the Armory museum and the other one for the Kremlin architectual ensemble.

We were given a small map of the KREMLIN...No. 1 is the armory museum...

The place inside the purple colored ring is the Kremlin.

Before we can entered the Kremlin, we were instructed to put our bags in special place to keep our camera and others stuff, with 60 roubles charge. only Josephine's bag was allowed to bring in...dont know why...my bag is also like hers and was not allowed..anyway..i took out my camera and put it in her bag...hahaha...before entering the Kremlin, there's a scanner like the one in airport, everyone has to go through it, and the machine will 'beep' if there's something wrong with you..ahha..and that's doesnt exclude me, i was beeped too, and i told the guard it was Handphone, and they let me passed...same with Josephine too..haha..if they know you got the camera, they will asked you to keep it in the special place...

We went to to armory museum first after that to the Kremlin ensemble...

Number 13 in the map...Big Kremlin Palace....
On our way to Kremlin architectual ensemble after the armory museum.
Moscow Kremlin ensemble consists of Russian architecture monuments of 15th-17th centuries
the Uspensky (Assumption), Blagoveshchensky (Annunciation) and Archangle cathedrals,
the Ivan Veliky bell-tower,
the Faceted chamber,
the Teremony palace,
the Senate building,
the Big Kremlin Palace,
Armoury Chambers.

The Kremlin Palace was constructed in 1956-1961.
We can see some wonderful monuments of Russian molding art the Tsar Cannon (16th century) and the Tsar Bell (18th century) here.
The residence of President of the Russian Federation is situated in the Moscow Kremlin.

The ancient Sobornaya (Cathedral) square is the main square of the Kremlin and at the same time, the centre of the architectural ensemble.

The cathedral square - 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,
Tsar Cannon - 8
Tsar Bell - 9

Right side (no. 3 in the map) is Blagoveshchensky (Annunciation) cathedrals)
Left side (no. 4 in the map) is Archangel cathedrals.

Archangle cathedrals, front view

Blagoveshchensky Cathedrals, front view, we went inside every of the cathedrals here, inside, there were very old furniture and painting on the wall, besides, there are costums wore by the costums, and others old old very old stuff. we were not allowed to take picture...every one of it, there are people and cctv camera guarding it..so..cant do anything..ahhaha...anyway, it's almost the same view and design in all of these cathedrals...

The Church of St. Ioann Lestvichnik and the Ivan Veliky the Great Bell Tower, no. 7 in the map..the bell tower was build because other cathedrals didnt have their own belfries. The height of the bell tower was 81 m and it was the highest building in ancient Moscow until the construction of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. It was forbidden to construct buildings higher than the Ivan veliky bell tower. Now it serve as an exhibition hall in the assumption belfry.

The church of laying our lady's holy robe. No. 6 in the map.

The Assumption (Uspensky) Cathedral. No. 2 in the map. It is the central place of the events, the main cathedral in Moscow. By the end of the 15th century the cathedral decayed and in 1472 Pskov architectures Krivtsov and Myshkin started constructing a new one. 2 years later, the cathedral that was almost completed crasehd down and earthquake so unusual for Moscow happened. Then a famous Italian architect Aristotel Fiorovanti was invited to the capital and he head to build the cathedral anew in traditions of Russian architecture. Unique works of Russian painting are stored in the cathedral. In this cathedral, the ritual of the Russian Orthodox church metropolitan and patriarchs confirmation was held, their tombs are also situated there. There is a legend that in 1941, when the fascists were standing at Moscow walls, Stalin secretly ordered to serve a moleben for the saving of the country from the enemy. In 1990, this cathedral was returned to the Orthodox Church though there's still a functioning museum in it.

The Patriarch's Palace. No. 5 in the map. Underconstruction. hahaha..

Tsar Cannon, No. 8 in the map.

Tsar Bell, no. 9 in the map. We knew about the story behind this bell from a tour guard from China, he was leading a tour from China and explaining the origin of this bell. I think it's better for us to have a tour guard to understand more deeply about the history here. If you dont do the homework yourself, by finding information from internet, i think it's better to have a tour guard lor..Dont end up like me. have to go 'curi' listen from them..hahah..

The story was, in 18th century, a queen named Anna (if i remembered correctly) had an idea of building the biggest bell in the world. So there started the work building the largest bell. A big hole on the ground was digged to build the bell. Extra care was put on it because once the temperature was not controlled properly, the bell will cracked. But, one day, one of the cathedral nearby the bell caught fire and while they were trying to put down the fire, the water flowed into the hole of the bell, the the temperature of the bell dropped abruptly and in the result of that, the bell cracked....
After a few years, the bell was took out from the hole by 70 machines (forgot whats the specific name for the machines, hehehe)! Imagined how heavy it is...

Every year, tourists lean on here to take the picture with bell, and results in the shearing off the surface of the bell...

See the surface of the bell, there is a carving of Queen Anna on it...

The end.....now we are going to Red square...but before that, we went to the underground shopping complex first.....this morning only went there for breakfast..now we wanted to window shopping ....

Inside the shopping complex..the lift....with the advertisment with it...haha..

The fountain...

Guess what? Icecream!! hahaha.....

The ceiling...
There's a lot of shops inside here, such as, Mango, Accessories, Terranova, Addidas and etc...But the price is not cheap ohh....eventhough it was winter sale now....haha..

**** Okay, that's for the Part 1! Now i need to go out for skating again! Part 2 coming soon after tonight...hehehe...***
